Are you at a point that seems like there is no end in sight? Are you getting frustrated, or just plain tired of doing the same thing over? Me too. However, We shouldn't ever feel that way with this great hobby.
As an example, Once I got my bottom benchwork done on the Iowa Eastern Railroad, I had the track laid and operational. I knew that at some point I would be building the upper level. At the beginning I did not know when that would be. That allowed me to be able to do some operations on the lower level and determine where I need to make adjustments in the track. Fortunatly I only have a few small adjustments I will be making...FOR NOW 😉.
Well then the weekend came and the girlfriend was out of town and I had the lumber, so I started building the upper level. It started in one corner and moved along one wall as that was all the lumber I had at the time. The next week my budget allowed me to purchase more lumber and build another section and so on. As of the writing of this post I have just a small 18" wide by 11 ' section of the upper level to build.
Point of the update is that I got into a building mode. I got into my head that I wanted to get the benchwork done before I did anything else. Mostly that is a good thing as by the end of the weekend coming up my benchwork will be done and I can move on to laying track and such. When we get into our heads we can't go any further until the current step is done can be a "not so good of a thing". In this case it is/was. It allowed me to stay focused and get the heavy construction work out of the way while my cars and locomotives were put aside so they wouldnt recieve any damage. Although I am ashamed to say I did have 3 cars recieve minor injuries. Nothing that some glue can't fix.
My whole point is, If you are working on a larger project that is taking lots of time, Sometimes it is beneficial to take breaks and sometimes it beter to push through until the task is completed. I know I have not actually ran a train in some time, but I also know that once I get this benchwork task complete, it will have been well worth the delay/wait.
