Baxter Springs / Lawton Branch

KCS Baxter Springs / Lawton Branch
Part 1

The N scale KCS Baxter Springs/ Lawton Branch is a modular layout that represents the KCS operations from Asbury, MO to Baxter Springs, KS from 1960 to 1970. The portion that is being modeled currently is from the unique Cow Creek Bridge to the MKT Crossing just before Baxter Springs. Most of the layout is in 1ft by 4ft modular sections except for Crestline which can be run as a separate layout on its own. Crestline modular represents a siding for cars to be spotted for local farmers. Even though the town is located on the Frisco a few miles northwest of the Crestline Interchange module. Now with the Crestline interchange module represents the Frisco crossing the KCS with a interesting interchange setup.

KCS Baxter Springs / Lawton Branch
Part 2

The final module is the MKT crossing just before Baxter Springs which is just a standard 90 degree crossing. Now the signature module is the Cow Creek Bridge and is shown in the picture. The bridge is made up of a wooden trestle followed by an 80’ open deck girder bridge and then onto an embankment. With the era being modeled from 1960 to 1970 let’s me run anything the KCS had
from the F7s to the GP30s with paint schemes from the southern Belle, Deramus Red to the famous White Ghost. Come along for the journey and watch how I recreate this branch come to life in model form. Also join my Facebook Group to see monthly progress as well as my YouTube channel for other content. As I say to everyone Happy Railroading!
