First off, I apologize for missing a blog post last month. As I am finally getting a chance to jump on the web site to ttry and update some things, I realized it's been a bit. The Iowa Eastern Railroad has had a lot of forward progress. The final yard is being put in and soon I will be running operations to test the track. I got this far by doing what I could when I could.
Thats what gets you to your results. building a railroad is more of a marathon than a sprint. Unless you are on a mission to get something done for, say, a train show or the like, most of us do not have a deadline. So enjoy the process, the path, the fun, and yes, the hard times of the hobby. Do what you can when you can. I repeat, do what you can when you can. I say this as times projects may seem daunting in nature and may seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. As I have said to my good friend Eric, who is building a 1" scale GP60M, Just keep swimming like dory.
Every little bit you do, even if it is something minor, may seem like your not getting anywhere, DOES in the end make a difference. We sometimes need to be motivated, Inspired, by fellow model railroaders. I know talking with Eric almost everyday, we encourage and inspire each other to get projects done or at least continue working on something to get to the end.
So having said all that, The purpose of this is to inspire you to finish a project, start a new project, continue working on a project and not get bogged down with not seeing progress maybe as quick as you thought. Keep your head up and keep moving forward, every little step, no matter how big, is a step to the finish line.
