A new day starts with new ambitions for the day. That could be a new job, a new project at work, or even a new layout. But what about if you have a great job, have a great layout? In my case, I have a new back. I had back surgery yesterday. All went well and I am feeling excellent. Not taking any pain meds and feeling great. I can say the couple weeks before this though it wasn't so great. I was and am tired of being home. Ready to go back to work. Most of my friends give me grief stating, look at all the time I have had to work on my railroad. They are very true. but for me there came a point that I didn't want to do anything on the raiload. I didn't even want to read up on the hobby. I was barely able to enough energy to come up with episodes for the podcast.
Where is all this coming from you may ask, Well with me having my procedure yesterday, came home from the hospital and I did and still do feel energized as that part of the "drama" is over. I am over the hill and its a down hill run now. moving forward and looking forward to getting back to normal. Like with the hobby, it is the World's Greatest Hobby, but sometimes some people can get too much. What I am trying to say is, if you get stuck in this hobby or for anything for that matter, Take a step back, evaluate whats important and do what YOU need to do to make sure YOU are alright. If that means taking a step back like I did from the hobby for a short time, helped me out tremendously.
On a final note, Lean on your friends and family if you get into a slump. I know If it wasn't for my girlfriend, and a few close friends of mine, this last couple months with my back issues would have been way harder. So lean on those that are there for you. This is a great hobby for fellowship, why not get the most out of it.
